The 16th annual CALL-Plus Workshop is coming Saturday, October 29th at Sapporo Gakuin University from 10am-5pm in the A-kan Building, Rooms A201 and A202. A detailed schedule can be found here. 

The theme is “Smartphones in English Education”.

All foreign language teachers are welcome who are interested in how technologies can enhance good pedagogies of learning and teaching a second language. 

The fee for the full day is 500 yen. JALT members are free.

There are over 15 sessions including training workshops on using Moodle. The following is a tentative schedule with presentation titles:

- 10:00am  Welcome with coffee, drinks and donuts
- 10:10am  Moodle one-to-one beginners training workshop and free class website (hosted by MoodleCloud)
- 10:10am  Moodle Experienced workshop with tutorial on Setting up a Gradebook and Extensive Reading apps
- 10:30am  Enhancing Classes with Visual Materials
- 11:10am  Digital Reflexive Peer Observation
- 11:20am  Managing Groups and Enrollments in Moodle
- 12:00am  Lunch in SGU Cafeteria
- 1:00pm  Smartphone English: Applications at SGU
- 1:35pm  Pre-matriculate Learning with Mobile-assisted Language Learning
- 2:00pm  Modifying Moodle Plugins: The Need, Idea, Process
- 2:25pm   Smartphone Quizzes: Using Animation in Kahoots
- 2:25pm  Picture Topic Talk:  The Warm Up That Gets Them Talking!
- 2:50pm  Moodle Tips for Content and Classroom Management 
- 2:50pm  PPP story creation, text and illustrations, and oral presentation to class
- 3:35pm How Students Can Use Smartphones Appropriately as Dictionaries and Translators
- 3:35pm  Activating Receptive Vocabulary through Presenting Collocation Phrases in Online Writing Tasks
- 4:00pm  Smartphone English for Special Needs Using Blind Cahoots
- 4:30pm  The Video Assessment Module – A Practical Tool for Various Teaching Environments
